Hasselblad Ferrari Red H4D 40 $29,499

I am a real believer in the power of suggestion and if you believe in something long enough that you're subconscious will work to realize your beliefs. With that said, maybe if I put this Hassy at the top of my list enough years in a row I might find one under the tree someday. Personally I think that this camera looks more like Mercedes AMG Wagon truck, but the Ferrari co-branding definitely speaks to the hi-performance of this unit. 40 mega-pixels, 1/800th flash sync, and the crispiest lenses in the business, the only thing that would make this the ultimate unit would be to have it work with LEAF and Phase One backs as well. Hassy bodies only work with their own backs since the H3D was released so if you want to invest you'd better make sure you've got some business in your pipeline. At $30k this sucker isn't cheap.

Mercedes CDI Sprinter Van: $39.820

Odyssey has this exact van that will be touring the country for the better part of 2011 and it s the perfect set-up for pro-level road trips. Odyssey modded theirs with a bolted-in lock box to keep valuables in sketchy situations when the van it out of sight. Tons of charger ports, 7ft+ inside stand over height, diesel engine that I ve head runs well over half a million miles and seating for 12 with plenty of room for bikes, bags and local stow-aways. Since these were released, I ve claimed that if I had a garage tall enough there would be one of these inside of it, but after riding in the Odyssey van to SF this month I might just move into the van and hit the road.

Zoom H4N. $299.00

The transition to HD has been a slow and steady one for BMX and skate filmers and pro audio is the next in line when looking to increase the feel of a video. With pre-amps and 4-channel recording, the wave files that this thing puts out are so rich and creamy you won t go back to that built-in mic. And it looks like a tazer, so it s always fun to take through security any major airport. Zap.

Panasonic AG-AF105 Video Camera: $9,960

I ll admit I m the first guy to jump on any tech bandwagon that pulls into town. If I can make my projects look 1% different than the others out there then chances are it s already sitting in my virtual cart at B&H. In a perfect world this camera will be a happy medium between the Canon DSLRs and the Panasonic HPX and as the world s first micro four-thirds camcorder it is positioned to catch the eye of many independent filmmakers. Utilizing Canon SLR lenses, this could be a RED Scarlet killer.

Leica Red Bull Illume edition: $924.77

The best camera is the one that you have with you. Unfortunately most of the time that means the 1.2 megapixel peephole on my Blackberry phone. Any chance I get to ditch my camera I take it, but to have a super-high quality point and shoot that fits in y our pocket could mean more opportunities for photos that don t look like a blurry sand painting. And with a limited run of 250, ou can be sure no one will have a slicker camera at your next family reunion.

24 inch Jim C $799

2009, 9:35pm in Corona, CA. Laying on the ground shooting photos Corey Martinez and Dakota Roche during a Will Stroud filming session, my back seizes up and I become short of breath. I had thrown my back out and could barely move. Lot s of Advil and a good chiropractor later led me to the decision that riding a 20 bike with a 50lb back pack isn t going to get any easier after 30. Sunday makes an amazing 24 cruiser that keeps you upright and gives you more pedal for your stroke. Add in a Think Tank roller bag and all of a sudden street missions become less painful.

Verde LUXE $599

But I m not riding that thing on a mini ramp. I see Jim C and Bauer shredding them but my can-can smith grinds are already pretty suspect on a 20 . If I put pegs on a cruiser I might as well move to Vancouver and start my freestyle mountain bike career. My good friends over at Verde make a simple complete bike that holds up for Kiraly and Dave Thompson so I m going to go ahead and say it s more than good enough for me on Chad Kerley s mini ramp.

Vans X Shadow low tops with red soles

I just finished a shoot with these shoes so I ve been staring at them for a week straight while editing the promo and I m really into the red soles and the one-red eyelet. The shoes themselves are simple and come in low or high-top depending on your preference. I think creative collabs and limited runs are always good ways to promote within the endemic community especially when there s no gimmicks involved just style.

RVCA Romero fit jeans $71.00

I hate shorts. Unless I m paddling out it s denim all the way- even in the summer. The slim fit program is a tough program to ascribe to especially if you are trying to put some knee gaskets under your jeans. I came by these RVCA jeans this summer at a retail store and the Romero fit is the new slim fit. This isn t a shameless plug, they actually kick ass.

Ipad with 3G $629.00

I kind of blew it on the iPad game when I bought the most basic model in the store this summer. True, I get my digital copy of Ride Magazine before anyone else gets one in their hands but beyond that it s become a Pandora iPod during breakfast and usually rests on the back of the john by the end of the day. Having a 3G iPad in the airport, in the van, at the doctor s office, at the trails - you name it. Maybe the next version will be more like a Swiss army knife and it will melt knobs off of rails. Is there an app for that?

Mercury Elite AL- Pro Qx2 8TB hard drive $899.00

The man, the myth, the legend steered me away from the Drobo and talked me into getting these Other World Computing RAID drives for my massive HD and photo archiving. At first it looked like some weird PC drive but having the hot swappable 2TB drives in RAID 5 is a big deal, especially when I ll be shooting over a hundred gigs a weekend. If you don t know what RAID 5 is, look it up.

Off The Record with Matt …

by: Justin Kosman

BMX legend Matt Beringer gives you the low down on his new Flick Trix toy model of his backyard, racing for Coca-Cola as a kid, winning $240 from mountain bikers by landing his first front flip, cracking his skull on a 180, wearing helmets and driving the S&M team to Texas with no defroster in the dead of winter. Toy helicopters that shoot missiles are cool.
