AZ/DC Behind The Lens
Last year we did a DC shoot in Arizona with Tom and Ed and
one of the nights we were out riding in the rain and sought cover in a
parking garage when it got to heavy to handle.
Riding around through the winding maze of parking levels we saw
this huge painted sign on the wall that read: STREET PARKING. Of
course we were interested in the part that said STREET in 6-ft tall
letters.
Ed hopped out and we shot a couple off as cars were pulling
through. I was just watching some of the new DC Teamworks videos and
came across this photo that I had totally forgotten about. It’d buried
in the DC site on a calendar page but it it probably on of my favorite
photos of 2008. I used one Quantum Q flash and a tripod because i was
at 1/40th of a second shooting with a 70mm lens and didn’t want camera
shake. I won’t say what town that parking garage is in because I want
to go back at shoot some more with that backdrop. It would be a sweet
opener for a rider ad to celebrate a NORA cup win. So that is the
story behind the photo!
